Carver Receives Funding from 2024 Community Needs and Local Jobs Fund Grants
October 29, 2024. The George Washington Carver Association was among 26 nonprofits to receive funding through the 2024 Community Needs and Local Jobs Fund grants. Our CEO, Jacobie Proctor, and Program Director, Jasmine M. Jones, were in attendance to accept our grant. Thank you, CFCI, for recognizing our hard work and making it possible for us to continue impacting our community's families!
Carver Center's 2024 SKILLS USA Season Kick-Off for 5th-8th Graders
October 24, 2024. The George Washington Carver Community Center held an exciting two-day kick-off event on October 21st and 22nd to launch the 2024 SKILLS USA season. The event welcomed eager 5th—to 8th graders into this year’s program and set the stage for a season full of learning, teamwork, and personal development within the center’s long-standing SKILLS USA chapter.

The Carver Center Community Partners Luncheon with Comcast
June 28, 2024. The Carver Center and Comcast held a community partners luncheon and expressed gratitude for their continued support. The community partners luncheon proved to be an invaluable platform for meaningful connections and engaging discussions on further strategies to ensure digital equity within this community. During the event, CEO, Jacobie Proctor, had the privilege of sharing Carver's testimony on the utilization of Comcast services. We’ve been able to build family connections because of our partnership. The Carver Center's SkillsUSA Chapter Heads to Atlanta, GA for the Championship!
June 24, 2024. The Carver Center's SkillsUSA Chapter heads to Atlanta, Georgia for the 2024 National Leadership & Skills Conference. SkillsUSA prepares students for technical training and provides them tools to prepare to work in todays workforce. Carolina Cabrera Hernandez (High School) and Rayniah Anderson (Middle School) both traveled to Atlanta, GA to compete for Nationals!
The Carver Center CEO attends Black Women Leaders Luncheon
April 23, 2024. The Carver Center CEO, Jacobie Proctor, and Executive Assistant, Jasmine M Jones, attended the Black Women Leaders Luncheon at Bradley University to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. They were proud to be in the presence of many influential leaders in the Peoria Area, and it was an excellent opportunity to connect with the community and its needs
